Immunodermatology is a subspecialty of dermatology dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of immune-mediated skin diseases. Many of these diseases are uncommon and require specialized expertise as few dermatologists have sufficient exposure to these conditions during their careers to provide appropriate care.
Dr. Meyerle pursued training after his residency at Johns Hopkins and Yale in immunodermatology and immunobiology. He spent much of his career as the Army’s only immunodermatologist and maintained a clinical laboratory devoted to the care of immunodermatology patients.
Dr. Meyerle has particular expertise in immunoblistering diseases such as pemphigus, pemphigoid, acquired epidermolysis bullosa, dermatitis herpetiformis, lichen planus, and linear IgA bullous dermatosis. In addition, he is recognized as an expert in dermatomyositis, pityriasis rubra pilaris, pyoderma gangrenosum, DRESS, and paraneoplastic skin conditions.
