Poornima Kumar has worked in Bryn Mawr at Sylvan Dermatology since 2021. Growing up in Lower Merion, she returned to Wynnewood a few years after completing her master's degree in Physician Assistant studies at Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia. Poornima has always wanted to pursue a career in medicine. As a high school student, she volunteered at Lankenau Hospital and earned a bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA.
Poornima has a diverse clinical background having worked in cardiology, where she gained a strong foundation in internal medicine and cardiac pathology, and in pain and palliative medicine.
She sees a wide range of medical dermatology conditions such as acne, eczema, hair loss, pigmentary disorders, rosacea, vitiligo, and warts.
She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She is active in her community and enjoys the involvement in her church in Philadelphia, volunteering at the local synagogue, her children’s school board association, and charitable organizations in the Philadelphia and Main Line areas.
